LONDON – Post-Brexit, the first trains between Paris and London faced delays of several hours, but it wasn’t Brexit to blame but track problems and overrunning engineering work.
The Eurostar website showed 2-hour delays of a few early morning trains travelling under the Channel. The high-speed route between Paris and London takes a little over 2 and a half hours.
Not just Paris, trains between Brussels and London were also delayed.
Customer service staff said that the delay was a result of Eurotunnel engineering work prolonging and failure of points close to the tunnel. They also stated that the services were getting back to normal.
The Channel tunnel transports cars between trucks and cars between Folkestone and Calais, services of which remained unaffected. The Eurochannel is a separate rail service through the tunnel.
