MILAN- On Friday, Italy’s antitrust authority fined the country’s top four phone operators an amount of 228 million euros for a breach of competition rules to raise prices collectively.
The probe was launched against Telecom Italia, Vodaphone, Wind Tre and Fastweb in 2018 with claims that they had collectively agreed to raise tariffs on being forced to scrap 28-day billing scheme.
Altroconsumo actively campaigned against the billing practices of the companies and fined Telecom Italia 114 million euros, Vodafone 60 million euros, Wind Tre 39 million euros and Fastweb the rest of the amount.
The companies can appeal the decision of the antitrust authorities.
