DUBLIN – On Wednesday, an Irish court granted a lorry driver leave to challenge the extradition to the UK related to the deaths of 39 Vietnamese who were found in the back of a truck last year near London.
23-year-old Eamonn Harrison is being sought out by British authorities for human trafficking and immigration offence charges along with 39 charges of manslaughter.
The bodies were discovered at the back of a refrigerated truck and shed a light on the dismal human trafficking situation from poor countries.
Harrison allegedly delivered the refrigerated truck to a Belgian port before it made its way to Britain.
In January, the Irish court approved his surrender to the authorities in the UK but deferred the extradition order signing to give the defence enough time to consider their ruling.
