NEW DELHI (INDIA) – India’s Interior Minister Amit Shah has been admitted to hospital after being detected with the coronavirus, he said on Sunday.
Shah has been heading the ministry that has been at the forefront in its management of the epidemic.
India’s is the third worst-hit country in the world behind the United states and Brazil. Shah said in a tweet, “I request all of you who came in contact with me in the last few days to isolate yourselves and get tested.”
Shah, 55, said he had got himself tested after it was found that he showed initial symptoms of COVID-19. He added, “My health is fine but I am being hospitalised on the advice of doctors.”
An interior ministry spokesman said it was not possible to immediately comment on when Shah had last met Modi.
