HONG KONG (Asia) – The Legislative Council of Hong Kong commenced voting on the national anthem bill on Thursday, a bill that has been the cause of a lot of controversies.
The bill states that it would make disrespecting the national anthem of China a criminal offence.
The voting comes not long after Hong Kong’s people are set to commemorate the 1989 crackdown by Chinese troops in and around Tiananmen Square. They are commemorating the crackdown by lighting candles all across the city.
