SAN FRANCISCO (US) – PGA Championship organisers have said that major champions Francesco Molinari and Padraig Harrington have withdrawn from next week’s tourney in San Francisco.
Ever since the PGA Tour resumed after the lockdown, both players have not competed.
Originally scheduled to take place in May, the championship was postponed due to the pandemic. PGA is the first three majors to take place this year.
With three major titles, Harrington, who is Europe’s Ryder Cup captain, has been replaced by American Talor Gooch for the game at TPC Harding Park, said organisers.
Troy Merritt has replaced Molinari, who won the 2018 British Open championship.
