WASHINGTON (US) – Social media giant Twitter said on Wednesday that the hackers who invaded its systems last week accessed direct messages of 36 accounts, including the one that belongs to an elected Dutch official.
Twitter said that it was unaware if the private messages of any other elected officials were accessed by the hackers.
Earlier, the firm had disclosed that cyber attackers tweeted from 45 “verified” accounts, including those of Elon Musk and Bill Gates and former US Vice-President Joe Biden.
There is a possibility that the miscreants, who are still at large, might have read the private messages of some of the world’s most famous people. The FBI is conducting a probe from its San Francisco office.
