A partner of Goldman Sachs put on leave more than a year back due to the 1MDB scandal exited the firm in compliance of a settlement with the Federal Reserve.
Goldman Sach’s former Asia Pacific co-head of investment banking Andrea Vella has been on administrative leave since November 2018 over his part in the bank’s involvement for 1MDB, which is the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund.
Goldman Sachs is amidst discussions with the U.S. government and regulators to sort out investigations regarding its involvement in the 1MDB Malaysian corruption scandal.
Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak’s government set up a 1MDB fund in 2009 wherein approximately $4.5 billion was found to be misappropriated by high-level fund officials and associates till 2014.
