TOKYO (Asia) – Gilead Sciences Inc’s remdesivir has been approved by Japan as a treatment for COVID-19.
This makes Japan the first officially authorised drug for the disease.
Japan arrived at the decision three days after the U.S. drugmaker filed for approval.
Authorisation for Remdesivir was granted last week by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use for the disease caused by the coronavirus.
