PARIS – Next Monday, France’s competition watchdog is to fine Apple for anti-competitive behaviour in the distribution and sales network.
A source said that the competition authority will reveal their decision on the matter on Monday.
Isabelle de Silva, head of the French antitrust watchdog, has set her sights on U.S. tech giants like Alphabet’s Google, to be fined 150 million euros ($167 million) for opaque advertising rules.
Apple mentioned that France’s competition authority alleged that aspects of its sales and distribution practices were in violation of French competition law, which it has denied.
Earlier this year, French consumer watchdog DGCCRF said that Apple agreed to pay 25 million euros for failing to inform iPhone users that the operating system updates could slow down the device functioning.
