On Wednesday, Facebook reached a settlement of $550 million related to a lawsuit of collecting and storing users’ biometric data without their consent.
In 2015, the lawsuit began when Illinois users accused the social networking site of violating the Biometric Information Privacy Act in place in the state.
This was apparently done by Facebook using the “Tag Suggestions” feature wherein Facebook friends could be recognised from photos uploaded by users before.
