Ex-Citi forex trader wins unfair dismissal lawsuit

LONDON (UK) – Former European head of Citigroup’s forex spot market trading desk Rohan Ramchandani has won an unfair dismissal lawsuit against the firm, but he cannot return to his former job, ruled a London employment tribunal.

Rohan alleged in a lawsuit in October that the firm terminated his contract unfairly without due process or warning.

He was seeking reinstatement, which would have made him eligible for back pay and any other awards.

But judge Alison Russell said giving him his previous job was not possible as the bank had proved in the tribunal that he had been fired because of his conduct. But it failed to follow fair procedure.

In a statement, the bank said it acknowledged that Rohan’s dismissal failed to follow its usual policy.
