SOFIA (Europe) – The epidemic emergency in Bulgaria is to be extended until June end to fight the coronavirus spread following an increase in new registered cases, according to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Most of Bulgaria’s restrictive measures have been eased since it was first imposed in mid-March, with restaurants and shopping malls reopened.
The Bulgarian government, Borissov said, did not plan on introducing new restrictions at the moment but appealed the public to maintain social distancing.
So far, 2,889 coronavirus cases have been reported in Bulgaria with 167 deaths. 79 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours alone.
