DUBLIN (IRELAND) – Ireland’s football association (FAI) said that former Chelsea winger Damien Duff has resigned as assistant coach of the Irish national team.
He was capped 100 times by Ireland and appointed to the staff of manager Stephen Kenny in August 2020 alongside Keith Andrews.
“I want to thank Kenny for the opportunity he gave me to coach with the senior Ireland team and I wish Stephen, Keith and the players all the very best of luck for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers,” the 41-year-old said in a statement.
After replacing Mick McCarthy as Ireland manager in April last year, Kenny has been without victory in eight matches. Ireland face Serbia, Luxembourg, Portugal and Azerbaijan later this year in qualification matches for FIFA World Cup.
