City manager Guardiola stresses need to rebuild
LONDON (UK) – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said it must rebuild if they have to take on Liverpool during the Premier League title next season.
City’s rule came crashing down last week following the defeat by Chelsea.
City manager said all clubs faced the need to rebuild.
“We have to rebuild. It happens at clubs around the world,” he said. “We have to accept it and take the right decisions to try to maintain the level that we have.
“We have exceptional players but after the season finishes we will reflect.”
Manchester City have already surrendered 10 more goals in the league than they did last season . They have seven games left.
The club’s midfielder Fernandinho, 35, and striker Sergio Aguero, 32, will be out of contract by the end of next season. On the other hand, City skipper David Silva, 34, will make his exit at the end of the present campaign.
“Fernandinho and Sergio have one year left,” Guardiola said. “I don’t know if they will extend or not. Some players have to be replaced, but it’s not a disaster or a bad thing, it’s part of football.”
“We are not getting the best of these players if in their mind they are not happy here,” said the manager.
