SHANGHAI – CATL, China’s top electric vehicle battery maker, has signed an agreement to supply batteries to Tesla.
In a stock exchange filing, CATL said that Tesla shall determine the volume of battery purchase between July 2020 and June 2022. The agreement does not place restrictions on the purchase volume from Tesla’s end.
Tesla has had a long-standing battery supply arrangement with Japan’s Panasonic Corp. Last week, Tesla said that its pact with CATL and LG Chem was at a smaller scale.
