China appreciates G20 consensus, to make contributions to debt relief efforts

BEIJING (Asia) – The G20 consensus to suspend bilateral debt payments by the poorest countries was appreciated by China and it will make its contribution to the debt relief efforts.

Chinese Finance Minister Liu Kun passed the remarks on April 15 during the G20 meeting with finance ministers and central bank governors.

This week, major international creditors agreed to suspend debt payments of the world’s poorest countries to aid them with the coronavirus pandemic which sparked the steepest downturn in the global economy since the 1930s.
