PARIS (FRANCE) – The trial of 14 alleged accomplices of the Islamist gunmen, who went on a killing spree at the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in 2015, began on Wednesday.
In a Tweet, French Prime Minister Jean Castex wrote “Always Charlie”.
Siblings Said and Cherif Kouachi went on the rampage at the office of the publication on Jan. 7, 2015, armed with automatic weapons.
As many as 12 people were killed in the attack which al Qaeda took responsibility of in retaliation for publishing cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, angering Muslims world over.
The following day, Amedy Coulibaly, an acquaintance of Cherif, gunned down a female police officer.
