HONG KONG – On Tuesday, Hong Kong’s leader Carrie Lam decided to pledge an amount of HK$10 billion (1 billion pounds) towards new relief measures to prop up the weakened economy.
Hong Kong has been grappling with months of anti-governmental protests, all of which have contributed towards affecting the global financial hub’s business confidence.
The new spending proposed shall bring Hong Kong’s total stimulus, since this summer, to an amount of HK$35 billion. That is when the protests escalates and the tourism and retail sectors took a harsh economic toll.
