LONDON (UK) – In a bid to further ease lockdown curbs, British health secretary Matt Hancock said on Thursday he would soon announce how people will be able to visit their relatives in care homes.
“In the next few days we will be setting out how COVID-secure visiting can happen in care homes, how we can have more visits of loved ones in a way that is very careful and in a way that keeps care homes safe,” he told ITV News.
The UK has one of the highest COVID-19 mortality rates in the world with the number of deaths standing at more than 44,000. As many as 20,000 people died in care homes, said government statistics.
