NEW YORK (US) – A company filing has shown that BlackRock Inc is adding bitcoin futures as an eligible investment to two funds. This is seen as a bid to bring the world of cryptocurrency to its clients.
BlackRock, which is the globe’s largest asset manager, announced that it could use bitcoin derivates for its BlackRock Strategic Income Opportunities and BlackRock Global Allocation Fund Inc.
The firm said in a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday that the funds will invest in cash-settled bitcoin futures traded on commodity exchanges registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
At the Council of Foreign Relations in December, CEO Larry Fink said that bitcoin is seeing big giant moves every day and could possibly evolve into a global market.
