Andy Murray’s return delayed because of slow recovery

LONDON- Andy Murray’s comeback to tennis has been delayed owing to a slower-than-expected recovery from bone bruising because of his hip surgery from last year.

The former world number one and three-time Grand Slam champion played last November in the Davis Cup but decided in late December, after his bruising flared up, that he is not fit enough for the Australian Open. Murray hoped to be in form by February and return to tournaments.

The 32-year-old tennis player said that bone bruising is taking longer to heal than originally believed and therefore, he will not play in February in Montpellier or Rotterdam.

Murray doesn’t intend on rushing or putting a timeline on his recovery. He will listen to his body stepping back on the court to compete when the time will be right.

In the start of 2019, Murray had a hip resurfacing surgery as he was constantly in pain and he saw his career’s end soon.
