WASHINGTON (US) – The United States on Thursday witnessed more thatn 1,100 fatalities connected to coronavirus for the third day in a row. This comes as the infection is surging in southern and western states.
The number of fatalities stood at 1,118. On Wednesday, it was 1,135 and 1,141 on Tuesday.
Although the fatalities are on the rise, they still remain below the levels seen in April when at least 2,000 people died daily on an average.
On Thursday, the US recorded more than four million cases of infection since the pandemic was first reported in January.
The new infections are rising by more than 2,600 per hour across the country.
