WASHINGTON (US) – Electric car maker Tesla’s vehicle registrations halved in California, USA, in the second quarter, said data released by Cross-Sell, a marketing research firm.
Production and sales of automobiles were hit when most US states were placed under stay-at-home orders between April and June in view of the coronavirus outbreak.
The electric vehicle maker’s sole Californian factory was closed for six weeks.
In California, which has always been a good market for Tesla, sales dipped by 48% from a year earlier to 9,774 vehicles.
Registrations of Model 3, which accounts for more than half of the sales, dropped by 63.6% to 5,951 vehicles.
