LONDON – On Thursday, for the first time since they announced their intention to step down from their royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan appeared together at an official royal engagement.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their appearance at an awards ceremony for wounded service personnel. This is one of their last appearances before quitting as the royal family’s working members.
The end of the month marks the end of the couple’s royal duties as they seek to carve out their future mainly in North America as they aim to finance themselves.
The couple has agreed to drop their HRH titles and the use of the word “royal” in their branding.
Meghan’s last royal engagement was a visit to Canada House in London, not long before the announcement. Harry returned to royal duties at the end of last month.
The couple attended the annual Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House on Thursday. This function acknowledges wounded, sick servicemen/women’s achievements in sporting or adventure challenges.
On Friday, Harry will be carrying out a solo engagement as he opens a new British motor racing dedicated museum. He shall be joined by Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Next week, 35-year-old Harry and 38-year old Meghan shall attend the annual Commonwealth Service at London’s Westminister Abbey in what is expected to be their last official royal appearance. They will be joined by other members of his family like the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William.
