LONDON – A loaded pistol and former Prime Minister David Cameron’s passport was left behind in an aeroplane toilet by Cameron’s bodyguard and were found by a passenger.
Cameron, accompanied by a Britain’s Metropolitan Police protection officer, was on his way back to London from New York when the incident took place.
The British Airways flight was all set to depart New York when a passenger created a commotion on having found a gun in the toilet, which was then confirmed by the Captain.
In order to reassure the passengers, the captain stated that the protection officer was authorised to carry his gun on board and that it had been returned to him. Several passengers, however, expressed their dissatisfaction and asked for the weapon to be removed before take-off.
The matter is being taken extremely seriously and an internal investigation has been launched.
The officer involved had since been removed from operational duties.
