London: Police are investigating after footage of a man shouting racially charged abuse at an elderly woman on a Ryanair flight went viral over the weekend, with the airline facing criticism over how it dealt with the incident. As Francis Maguire reports, the incident came as the Irish low-cost carrier, Europe’s largest, reported a 7 percent fall in profits due in part to high fuel costs and intense competition.
IDANTE PARTNERS HEAD OF INVESTMENT RESEARCH, JOACHIM KLEMENT, Said:
“It has certainly damaged Ryanair’s reputation in the short-term because social media coverage of that racist incident was tremendous and it was overwhelmingly negative. However, this is also an opportunity for Ryanair to do better in the future and to improve its customer service in that respect.”
