DUBAI (UAE) – President Hassan Rouhani of Iran said on Thursday he was optimistic about the US administration returning to its nuclear pact commitments and lifting the sanctions imposed on Tehran.
“I have no doubt that the three-year resistance of the Iranian people will persuade the future American government to return to its commitments and the sanctions will be broken,” he said.
In 2018, US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal inked between Iran and six world powers in 2015 and imposed new curbs on Tehran. President-elect Joe Biden’s coming to power has raised the prospects of Washington rejoining the pact.
