Fire in Russian retirement home kills 11

MOSCOW (RUSSIA) – The Russian emergencies ministry said on Tuesday that a fire outbreak in a retirement home in Bashkortostan in the Urals has killed 11 inmates.

The ministry said in a statement that the fire was reported at 3 am local time (2200 GMT Monday) in the village of Ishbuldino and the flames were doused three hours later.

“Four people evacuated (the site) on their own before the arrival of firefighters,” said the statement.

The investigative committee said it has started a probe into the cause of the blaze.
