BRUSSELS (Europe) – The European Commission approved a 50 billion euro Belgian loan guarantee scheme to support companies through the coronavirus pandemic.
The support with new short-term loans will be accessible to all companies of both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and self-employed traders.
The scheme tries to help businesses affected by coronavirus to cover their liquidity needs and remain afloat.
“It will help … businesses cover their immediate needs and continue their activities during and after the outbreak.”
– Margrethe Vestager, Commission Executive Vice-President
