Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Egypt prime minister on Thursday, where they discussed the desire for increased cooperation between the two countries to bring more stability to the Middle East. Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to enhance collaboration with Egypt , aiming to inject greater certainty and stability into the region and the world. He emphasized the strong friendship and mutual trust between China and Egypt, describing them as good friends and partners working together for development and common prosperity.
Xi noted the profound and complex changes occurring in the international and regional situation. Highlighting the rapid transformations happening globally, Beijing expressed its readiness to cooperate with Cairo in safeguarding international fairness, justice, and the common interests of developing countries. Egypt had kept its border with the Gaza Strip mostly closed during the recent Israel-Hamas hostilities, contributing to the humanitarian challenges in the region.
However, Cairo announced that it would permit the sustainable passage of humanitarian aid through the Rafah crossing. Moreover, relations between China and Egypt have been strengthening, with Egypt set to become an official member of the BRICS group of emerging economies next year. Xi congratulated Egypt on joining the BRICS cooperation mechanism, believing it would bring new energy to BRICS cooperation.
