This year’s Samsung Unpacked will be in Seoul, South Korea, the company announced on Wednesday. The event will happen in July, according to the South Korean major. The precise date has not yet been confirmed, though. It’s expected that the long-rumored Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will make their debut at Unpacked 2023.
Samsung’s premier event, Samsung Unpacked, is where it routinely releases new smartphones and other gadgets. It has held past events in major cities around the world. This year, though, for the first time the Unpacked will be held in its home country, South Korea.
Although Samsung has been tight-lipped about what’s about to come, the company is likely to announce two new foldable phones. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are rumoured for months.
They will succeed the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, both of which have been received well in the market. Expect minor changes to the next-generation hardware, although the smaller Flip 5 might get a redesign if rumours have anything to go by.
Samsung has been the flag-bearer when it comes to foldable smartphones. The tech major has consistently launched new foldable phones every year but only in the premium segment. International Data Corporation (IDC) expects worldwide shipments of foldable phones, including flip and fold form factors, to reach 21.4 million units in 2023. Samsung faces stiff competition from Chinese phone brands in the foldable phone segment. OnePlus’ next flagship could be a foldable phone.
