Burberry

British luxury brand Burberry has unveiled its plans to associate with The Royal Ballet to design costumes for its dancers for a performance this summer. The show will be led by director and choreographer Wayne McGregor and will be performed on June 9th at the Royal Opera House, London.

Burberry’s newly appointed chief creative officer, Daniel Lee will design the outfits. The Burberry atelier said, “It is such a pleasure, and of course an honour, to collaborate on this extraordinary project with such a remarkable team. It’s always been a dream to create costumes for dance, which is such a passion of mine.”
Wayne McGregor says, “For this extraordinary Royal Ballet project with the late, great minimalist artist Carmen Herrera, we dreamt of collecting together a stellar team. Daniel Lee, an artist with unbridled imagination, is creating works of innovation, motion, and piercing beauty. And with his exceptional passion for all forms of dance, he felt like a natural ally. Together, with the Burberry team, we are working on something truly special – honouring Carmen whilst forging our own evolutionary path.”

Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir will set the soundtrack to the yet-to-be-titled performance. Equally important, the lighting design by Lucy Carter will illuminate and inspire and set design by the late artist Carmen Herrera. The Cuban artist Carmen Herrera passed away last year.
