On Monday, the Syria-based opposition war monitor, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported a drone strike near the rebel-held village of Kefteen.
The strike resulted in one casualty. According to the Syrian Civil Defense, they evacuated the man from the site of the attack. The evacuated man later died due to his injuries.
The strike was the latest in a series of attacks over the past years . These attacks are targeting Al-Qaida-linked militants and senior members of the Islamic State group in northwestern Syria.
The majority of casualties from U.S. strikes in Idlib province, which is under rebel control, have been members of Horas al-Din, an offshoot of al-Qaida. The group’s name translates to “Guardians of Religion” in Arabic. The group includes hardcore Al-Qaida members who broke away from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the strongest insurgent group in Idlib province.
