Britain’s luxury retailer Harrods partnered with Italian fashion house Prada to extend your retail therapy experiences into fine dining as well. The iconic department store Harrods opened Prada Caffe in London. The cafe will be serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, small bites and aperitivo in the label’s signature monochromatic setting.
The cafe echoes the brand’s iconic identity with its interiors swathed in mint-green, black-and-white checkered floors and floral bas-reliefs that adorn the walls. The velvet upholstered chairs come in a pale shade of green, laid beside sleek, black, marble tables. The cafe, designed by Wes Anderson is intended to be a homage to the “first historic Prada boutique” located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
The reflection of the brand extends to the tableware as well, featuring pale-blue Japanese porcelain with a contrasting double black line, inspired by ancient Celadon pottery – tea and coffee cups with lids, teapots, plates and trays, to blown-glass crystal glassware that comes emblazoned with Prada’s iconic motif.
When it comes to the dining part, the guests can relish Italian cuisine with a modern twist in London. The cafe offers an all-day dining approach, with poached eggs, puff pastries, yoghurt and granola, eggs florentine, caviar and velvety Italian coffee for breakfast. There are the starters like burrata and zucchini and mains including spinach and ricotta cannelloni with black truffle for lunch.
No Italian meal is perfect until complemented with an aperitivo hour. Their menu presents expertly crafted tipples, from negroni-based spritzes to signature cocktails and an impressive wine list with bottles from Sicily to Piedmont. The signature cocktails come with quirky names like Tuscan Blossom, Mediterraneo, Italian Fizz, and Bitter in Love. To complement the cocktails and Italian wines, there are tramezzini and pizzettes miniature puff pizzas.
And for the desserts, there are pastries laden with pistachio croccantino, different kinds of sponges with vanilla cream, tiramisu, doughy treat named faggotini stuffed with gooey dark chocolate, pistachio cream, and raspberry jam. The desserts are ‘Instagrammably’ displayed on the grand central counter and back wall.
Prada Caffe will be open till January 7th 2024, from 9 am to 9 pm, Monday to Saturday and 12 pm to 6 pm Sundays. The entrance can be found on Hans Road, Knightsbridge.
