Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, and Nick Pope have withdrawn from the England team for the Euro 2024 qualifiers due to injuries.

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford was injured during Manchester United’s 3-1 FA Cup victory over Fulham. Mason Mount of Chelsea is recovering from a pelvic injury. While Newcastle goalkeeper Pope was injured in the 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

England coach Gareth Southgate named them to his 25-man squad at first. But Chelsea manager Graham Potter subsequently stated that Mount would not be joining England for international duty.

Mount has been out of action for Chelsea since February due to a pelvic bone injury. The midfielder also missed Chelsea’s latest Premier League draw with Everton.

Newcastle’s goalie Nick Pope and Chelsea’s midfielder Mason Mount have also pulled out of Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Fraser Forster, the Tottenham goalkeeper, is the only replacement called up by Southgate, who named a 25-man squad last week.

Rashford’s absence is the most serious blow given his scintillating form since the World Cup.

The 25-year-old has scored a career-high 27 goals for United this season, 19 of which have come since returning from international duty in Qatar, where he netted three times in five appearances.

England plays Italy in their first Euro 2024 qualifier without Rashford. In Naples on Thursday before hosting Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.

The Three Lions boast a woeful record against Italy in the last decade, with their last win against the Azzurri coming in 2012.
