LOS ANGELES (US) – The Hollywood Reporter carried a report on Wednesday, which said the popular fantasy franchise “Game of Thrones” might be expanded to animation in a new series to be streamed on HBO Max.
HBO Max executives are already in talks with writers about a possible animated series aimed at the adult audience, said the report.
The series, which is based on novels by George RR Martin, became a global sensation and went on to win 12 Emmy awards, including the top prize of best drama series.
It wound up in 2019. Executives have been working to develop new programming in the franchise in a bid to compete with Walt Disney Co, Netflix Inc and others.
HBO is presently working on a spinoff to “Game of Thrones” called “House of the Dragon,” which takes place three centuries before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
