EU states to discuss weapons exports to Turkey with NATO, US: Merkel

BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) – European Union leaders came to a consensus at a summit that the question of weapons exports to Turkey should be discussed among NATO member states in coordination with the new US administration of Joe Biden, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Leaders of the bloc have asked the High Representative to prepare a report for the next summit regarding the EU’s cooperation with Turkey. Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh will also be the topics to be looked at.

“In light of that we will talk more about our relations with Turkey, which is marked on the one hand by strategic dependencies – many of us are members of NATO – and on the other hand by tensions,” she said.
