Prince William, Kate kickstart train tour to thank frontline workers for pandemic efforts

LONDON (UK) – Prince William and his wife Kate arrived in Edinburgh on Monday as part of the nationwide tour on train to meet and thank frontline workers, care home employees and teachers for the role they played during the pandemic.

The grandson of Queen Elizabeth and second-in-line to the throne, William and his wife are travelling 1,250 miles across Britain on a three-day trip.

When they started their trip at London’s Euston Station on Sunday evening, Welsh pop star Shakin’ Stevens serenaded the royal couple with his 1980s hit “Merry Christmas Everyone”.

“Thank you to all transport workers everywhere for keeping the country moving throughout this difficult year,” William and Kate wrote on a train information board before their journey.

“The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to shining a spotlight on the incredible work that has been done across the country throughout this difficult year,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.
