United’s Cavani, Martial suffer injuries, says Solskjaer

LONDON (UK) – Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial had to be substituted during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United as they suffered muscle injuries, said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Last weekend, Uruguayan striker Cavani netted two goals as a substitute against Southampton and he was operating as the central striker against West Ham. He did not come out for the second half at London Stadium.

French forward Martial had to quit the turf after 62 minutes and he was replaced by Juan Mata.

According to the manager, both players will have to undergo scans ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match with RB Leipzig. United require a draw to qualify for the last-16.

“It is unfortunate… sometimes you get muscle injuries. We lost Anthony and Edinson,” he told Sky Sports. “There’s a game already on Tuesday. But It’ll probably be (like this) this season.

“Some games we have to do without players and I’m glad we’ve got the substitutions we have.”
