Number of new COVID cases in Mainland China went up to 18 on Dec. 5: Health commission

BEIJING (CHINA) – China’s National Health Commission said on Sunday that the mainland recorded 18 new coronavirus cases on Dec. 5, up from 17 cases a day earlier.

The commission said in a statement that 17 of the new infections were imported ones. The number of new asymptomatic cases dropped to 2 from 12 a day earlier. However, they are not classified as confirmed cases in the country.

Now the tally of confirmed cases in the mainland stands at 86,619 and the fatality toll remains unchanged at 4,634.
