DUBAI (UAE) – Wakeboarder Omeir Saeed of the United Arab Emirates has smashed the Guinness World Records for “Farthest Wakeboard Ramp Jump (Male)” and “Most Wakeboard Rail Airs (Supermans) in 30 Seconds”.
Way back in 2011, Saeed, then 15, went to mess about on the water with this friends at the Al Forsan Club in Abu Dhabi. His experience with snowboarding served him better.
In three years, he went from amateur to professional and his meteoric rise showcased his passion and drive to come to the top. He took part in the first WWA World Championship in Abu Dhabi and showed his natural ability by coming fifth, He went on to take part in events like the Wings for Life World Run, the Spartan Race and Desert Warrior Challenge.
In a bid to mark “GWR Day” on November 18, Saeed set out on October 22 to break Jérôme Macquart’s Guinness records for “Farthest Wakeboard Ramp Jump (Male)” set in 2004 and “Most Wakeboard Rail Airs (Supermans) in 30 Seconds” that the Frenchman set in 2005.
For the former record, the 23-year-old achieved a huge 21-metre jump and broke the earlier achievement of 15 metres. He did 10 wakeboard rail airs in 30 seconds to double the latter record.
Said Saeed: “If there is one thing that I learned from this experience, it is that we hold a big responsibility to inspire the younger generation, to transfer the message and share the passion. Having this global recognition in hand makes me proud as an Emirati, as this is certainly the jewel in the crown of so many years of achievement and success.”
