Hackers leak personal information of 1,000 Belarus cops in retaliation for crackdown on protesters

MINSK (BELARUS) – The personal information of 1,000 Belarusian police officers was hacked in retaliation for a crackdown on protesters seeking the resignation of President Alexander Lukashenko.

Opposition news channel Nexta Live released a statement on Telegram which said, “As the arrests continue, we will continue to publish data on a massive scale. No one will remain anonymous even under a balaclava.”

The government said on Sunday that it would find those behind the hacking and punish them. The information about the officers was distributed on Telegram on Saturday evening.

“The forces, means and technologies at the disposal of the internal affairs bodies make it possible to identify and prosecute the overwhelming majority of those guilty of leaking personal data on the Internet,” said Olga Chemodanova, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
