Britain aims for 500,000 coronavirus tests a day by October, PM says

LONDON (UK) British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday his government was giving its best to increase testing capacity to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. He said he was aiming to do 500,000 tests a day by the end of October.

Johnson told a parliamentary committee, “We will be up at 500,000 per day by the end of October.” He hoped that it would suffice to meet increasing demand. He added that the government would conduct an inquiry into the way the coronavirus crisis was handled.
