Premier League new season to witness empty stands, new talents in squads

MANCHESTER (UK) – The new season of the Premier League is all set to begin on Saturday and there will be some new talents on the turf, but the stands will remain empty. The world’s most-viewed domestic soccer competition will take place as an event meant for sports channels.

By winning the title with 18 points, Liverpool remain the favourite this time too. However, Manchester City will give them stiff competition as they are gunning for their third title in four years.

Chelsea have roped in new talents and hope to win the title while Manchester United look to improve on a third-place finish, 33 points behind Liverpool.

After a long gap of 16 years, Leeds United are back and the Yorkshire-based club, which is led by Marcelo Bielsa of Argentina, have started their campaign at Anfield.

There will be a pilot run of matches with a limited number of spectators at the lower league level. The Premier League is exploring options to bring back some fans to stadiums by October depending on the pandemic levels. However, this month, fans will have to be content with viewing the game either in their living room or the nearest pub.

Television broadcasters believe that action on the turf will keep the enthusiasm of fans until they return to the stadiums.
