India, China agree to defuse tension along Himalayan frontier

NEW DELHI (INDIA) – India said on Saturday it was willing to work with China towards reducing the tensions along their disputed Himalayan border. This comes after a meeting of defence ministers of both countries.

Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh held talks with his Chinese counterpart General Wei Fenghe on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Moscow on Friday.

New Delhi and Beijing have agreed that “neither side should take any further action that could either complicate the situation or escalate matters in the border areas,” read a statement issued by the Indian defence ministry.
