Dwayne Johnson says he and family have recovered from COVID-19

LOS ANGELES (US) – Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said on social media on Wednesday that he, his wife and two children have recovered from COVID-19 after being tested positive in recent weeks.

The 48-year-old star said in a video posted on Instagram that he and his wife, Lauren, 35, and their daughters, Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2, got infected 2-1/2 weeks ago from “very close family friends”.

“I can tell you this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me personally,” he said in the video.

He said his family had been “incredibly disciplined” in maintaining safety measures to curb the spread of the infection.

Johnson said his two daughters only suffered a mild sore throat for the first couple of days and then recovered. On the other hand, he and his spouse had “a rough go”.

“But I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good. We are on the other end of it,” he said. “We are no longer contagious, and we are, thank God, we are healthy.”

In the video, he also urged people to wear face coverings to stop the spread of the pandemic.
