Kamala Harris accepts Democratic nomination

WASHINGTON (US) – Senator Kamala Harris on Wednesday formally accepted the Democratic nomination for vice president. She urged Americans to vote for Biden and accused President Donald Trump of failed administration that cost lives and jobs during the pandemic.

She made history by becoming the first Black woman and Asian-American to contest on a major presidential ticket. Harris blamed Trump’s divisive leadership for bringing the country to an “inflection point”. She also appealed to the racially diverse electorate of the party to vote and defeat Trump.

“The constant chaos leaves us adrift, the incompetence makes us feel afraid, the callousness makes us feel alone. It’s a lot,” she said in Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

“We must elect a president… who will bring all of us together — Black, White, Latino, Asian, Indigenous — to achieve the future we collectively want. We must elect Joe Biden,” she said.
