BUDAPEST (Europe) – The Hungarian government is to submit a proposal to parliament on May 26 for the special coronavirus emergency powers to come to an end, as said by Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s chief of staff.
Gergely Gulyas said that the Parliament would take a few days to pass the bill, which will halt the emergency powers which has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism by early June.
When the parliament gave the government permission to rule by decree coronavirus related matters, no end date was set which led to international criticism and autocratic power-grab accusations.
