Gove- Trade deal with the European Union is there to be done

LONDON (UK) – British minister Michael Gove announced that there was a trade deal to be done with the EU, which would need compromise from the bloc.

On Friday, both sides called for the other to compromise in negotiations on their post-Brexit relationship. This came after the statement that the latest round of talks ended with little progress being made.

Gove stated that the sticking points were issues like fisheries and the so-called “level playing field” rules to ensure fair competition.

“We’re making it clear to the EU we can’t do a deal on those terms. But I am confident that there is a deal to be done. It just requires a degree of flexibility on the EU side which I’m sure that they will appreciate they need to show.”
